Amy’s Reflection on 2020

Winding down and reflecting on a New Year, I’m thinking about why working in the bridal industry is seriously awesome. It’s been a roller coaster of a year, but I feel lucky for so many reasons.

I get to meet so many amazing people. Of course, our brides which are the reason we do what we do, but also working with so many other passionate people within our industry. An industry of LOVE where we all LOVE to help others. We support each other and this year more than ever.

There are so many reasons this year has been awesome.

❤ Meeting so many brides and helping them look and feel amazing in one of the most important and emotional items of clothing they will probably ever wear.

❤ Having so many lovely messages and support even when times were tough in lockdown (thank you).

❤ Doing insta lives with industry friends.

❤ Spending time with my daughter prancing around in wedding dresses.

❤ Designing and launching my bridal accessory business.

❤ Re-arranging the boutique to make it even more amazing for our brides (and covid safe).

❤ Having a truly awesome and supportive team that have adapted amazingly well and always go the extra mile.

We have all struggled for many reasons and I must admit there have been some challenging days. Some of the low points for me have been;

✨ The heartbreak that Covid-19 has caused for so many of our brides.

✨ Dealing with the upset and emotions of our brides.

✨ Constantly loading my car with boxes and driving them to the shop.

✨ Temporarily closing our doors after working so hard to build up a successful business and a place where we support others.

✨ Realising that our beautiful boutique lost its heartbeat without the happiness and excitement of brides being inside.

✨ Losing shit loads of money by the day and still having to pick myself up, support others and remain positive (the overheads of running a business are scarily high).

So why am I sharing this with you?

I am all about honesty, transparency and sharing. Although 2020 has been horrendous is so many ways, we all have so much to be grateful for. Putting this list together made me realise there have been some great moments and these are the ones I want to remember!!

Even after all of this, I’m pleased and proud to say that we have welcomed a record number of brides to our #prettybride tribe. We have grown the business and educated ourselves to ensure we offer our brides the best.

We have invested in so many amazing dresses that we cannot wait to share with you. We have lots of events planned and will continue to grow with lots of exciting things in the pipeline!!

Hand on heart, Dress Me Pretty has become such a huge part of my life and I cannot wait for 2021 to meet you, share your dreams, share your excitement and as a business, be here for you every step of the way. From myself and the amazing team of women I am lucky enough to have by my side and call friends – WE WISH YOU A WONDERFUL 2021 ❤️
