The Perfect Bridal Appointment

We often get what we would call ‘a perfect bridal appointment.’  I’m not talking perfect for us, I’m talking perfect for the bride.  Our goal is that every bride visiting us has the most memorable experience and finds HER ONE easily.

Not only do we make this exciting journey easy, we love to make it fun and with no pressure.  If a bride loves a dress and follows her heart, it’s an easy decision when she find HER ONE.

The brides that don’t tend to have ‘the perfect appointment’ are the ones that…

1. Are shopping too early & not being ready to enjoy their moment (not ready to commit or in the right mindset).

When I say too early, I don’t necessarily mean ‘the number of months or time until their wedding’, I mean they are out to get an idea of styles or to have a day out trying on loads of dresses. We all know that the more you try on can often ruin your bridal journey, cause confusion and lead to bridal overwhelm!! Bridal overwhelm, really is a thing and not advised. We have seen many brides in tears due to major confusion from previous appointments. It becomes a fog with not remembering the dresses, being brainwashed by other peoples favourites and the dresses THEY remember and loved.

There could be pictures in the dresses snapped on a phone but this isn’t about THE FEELING you get when wearing it and this is what it should be all about!!

2.  Shopping for other people rather than YOU & your special day.

This is something we often see and can be heartbreaking to witness.  A bride can fall head over heels in love with a dress behind the curtain but then totally CRUSHED when mum/friend/sister/aunt says something negative or says THEY don’t like it.

To give you your perfect appointment, we advise chatting with the guests prior and make them aware of what you love and are looking for. To them, what they see as the perfect dress will probably be very different to your perfect dress.

This means your appointment gets off to a great start and that everyone is on the same page.

Remember, this is YOUR day.

The price of wedding dresses

Another part of ‘The perfect bridal appointment’ is when a bride is in the right boutique that matches her dress budget.  Deciding what you are comfortable spending on your dress is highly advised before making any appointments!!

Ensuring you visit the boutiques in your price range is key.  Whatever your budget, there will be something out there that makes you feel special, just don’t set your sights too high that you’ll more than likely become disappointed.

We often have brides that have tried a dress on elsewhere way over their budget and have fallen head over heels in love!! We simply don’t understand why anyone would put themselves through this and you often really do get what you pay for.

The only way I can explain this and point out the difference is that of driving a Ferrari and having the budget for a fiesta. There’s obviously a huge difference. YES it has wheels, YES it gets you from a to b, but my goodness the difference is significant (not that I’ve driven a Ferrari btw).

Getting in that fiesta May be underwhelming but if you hadn’t driven the Ferrari, the fiesta would have been fabulous!!

Our dresses range from £1200-£3000 and we occasionally get brides with budgets of under £1000 book an appointment, fall in love with a dress and then never find anything that looks and feels like a designer dress or that comes close.

Our dresses are designed and made by award winning designers and are some of the best in the world.

My run down of making sure you have perfect bridal appointment:

  1. Do your research & make a list of dress features you love (ie a low back or buttons all the way down the train).

  2. Know your budget & book appointments at boutiques in line with this.

  3. Take the right people & ensure they understand what YOU are looking for and want.

  4. Go wedding dress shopping when you are prepared to find THE ONE.

  5. Visit a bridal boutique with experienced stylists that will help and guide you to find YOUR dream dress.

Here at Dress Me Pretty getting the right team members is our priority. We aren’t recruiting right now but if you love helping and supporting others, are not afraid of working hard to get great results then we would love to hear from you. You will need to be ‘a people person’ as the majority of our work is about being kind to others and always going above and beyond. If any vacancies arise, it would be great to have your details.
