What Wedding Dress Shape and Style Will Suit Me?

Choosing the perfect wedding dress is one of the most exciting parts of planning your big day, but with so many styles, fabrics, and silhouettes available, it can also feel a little overwhelming. One of the best ways to start your wedding dress journey is to understand the different wedding dress shapes and how they suit various body types.

Petite? Fitted or A-line dresses elongate your frame.
Curvy? Fit & Flare or fitted styles highlight and flatter your curves.
Pear-shaped? A-line or ballgowns balance out proportions beautifully.
Apple-shaped? Ballgown or A-line dresses provide support and soft definition.
Tall or rectangular? Try fitted dresses or ballgowns to highlight your stature.

A-Line Wedding Dress
A lot of our brides are worried about bloating, and we totally get it. A line is the perfect style as it cuts in at your waist (And your smallest part) and skims over your tummy and hips. For a lot of brides, comfort is super important so if this sounds like you, A line is the one! A line is a popular style, and we understand why.

This silhouette is perfect if you want a romantic, fairytale vibe without the fullness of a ball gown

Fit & Flare Wedding Dress

Comfort meets drama Fit and flare is the perfect style if you are looking for that extra bit of drama at the bottom of your dress.. and well it’s your wedding day so the more drama, the better! But unlike a Fishtail/mermaid shape (it flares lower) fit and flare offers a dramatic shape and easier movement – Perfect for dancing the night away! Fit and flare will give you that structure and shape without overwhelming your frame. This style emphasises curves and creates a striking silhouette.

Ballgown Wedding Dress

If you’re dreaming of that princess moment, the ball gown is your fairytale moment– I mean when else can you feel like a princess, then on your wedding day. The ball gown is timeless and regal - with a fitted, structured bodice and a full skirt you will be sure to bring that romance and royal vibes to the aisle. If you are conscious of your tummy, hips, legs then this style is perfect. We all have imperfections and things we don’t like about ourselves but that makes you.. YOU. Pick a dress that makes you feel confident and amazing and if it makes you forget about any of your flaws, she’s the one

Fitted Wedding Dress
If you are wanting to beam confidence, sophistication with a hint of sexiness a fitted wedding dress will give you all three and more! So many of our brides rule out fitted because they want to be comfortable and be able to sit and walk, Bridey we promise you will be able to do this and can confirm you WILL be on that dancefloor all night! The best thing about our designer dresses is that they understand the assignment.

Structure – You want the structure and boning to pull you in at all the right places, showing off your beautiful figure

Fabric/Lining – Fabrics and the lining of the dress compliments the structure but gives you the comfort and ability to still do normal things like walk, dance, sit down, eat and drink 192938 glasses of prosecco (Or beer if your like Jade & Amy).

Having a slight stretch in the lining of your dress allows normal movement which means girls, you can be snatched and absolutely breathe and enjoy your day!

Bloating is a massive worry for brides when thinking about a fitted wedding dress and we would love to tell you that you won’t bloat on your wedding day but we’re girls and it’s normal and we pride ourselves in being transparent and real with our brides. You may bloat and you may worry as you are putting on your fitted wedding dress in the morning but DON’T. It’s a part of you and you are amazing and a little bloating isn’t going to take that away from you.

No matter your body type, the most important thing is how you feel in your dress.

Try on different styles with an open mind, you might be surprised by what
flatters you most.
